South Florida Baptist Hospital Foundation History

When Rowena Mays and M.E. Moody donated land in the 1940s for the first hospital in the Plant City area, their act of generosity was the start of a long legacy of community support for South Florida Baptist Hospital.

In the decade before the hospital finally opened its doors on December 29, 1953, countless civic groups, businesses, local citizens and churches worked tirelessly to raise funds for the hospital.

In 1995, the South Florida Baptist Hospital Foundation was established as a formal fundraising arm of the hospital. Since then, the Foundation has raised more than $16 million through leadership gifts, capital campaigns, popular special event fundraisers and planned gifts.

As a private, not-for-profit and non-denominational hospital, South Florida Baptist Hospital continues to need your support. Every gift makes a difference.
